The Core Concept

The Distributed State Naming System is a modern framework for resolving network names into addresses. It replaces traditional, centralized domain name systems and heavy blockchain alternatives with a fast, secure, and decentralized approach. By utilizing cryptographic gossip protocols, the system allows network nodes to securely share and validate routing information without relying on a centralized authority or a tokenized consensus mechanism.

The Problem with Current Systems

Current naming systems typically fall into two categories, and both have significant drawbacks. Centralized systems represent a single point of failure and are highly vulnerable to targeted cyber attacks, making them a liability for advanced security operations. Decentralized alternatives often rely on decentralized physical infrastructure networks or complex tokenomics. This reliance introduces unnecessary overhead, latency, and financial friction into basic network routing.
